The transcription work kept us busy, too. Therefore, one of the highlights of the last quarter was at last being able to get back into the studio and start addressing this backlog, starting with Australian English. Since last year, because of Covid restrictions, we haven’t been able to do this, and gaps have emerged in our World English audio coverage. More than 700 new entries and senses have been added to the Oxford English Dictionary in this special update, including comfort eating, lateral flow, and hybrid. The material added to the dictionary includes revised versions of existing entries (which replace the older versions), and new words and senses both within the alphabetical sequence of revised entries and also across the whole A to Z range.
